In 2021 we entered a partnership with Aston Villa FC to deliver their entire membership programme, with the sole aim of building a highly engaged fanbase. We took on the entire delivery of the Official Membership scheme, from acquiring members through global cross-channel campaigns, to servicing them with merchandise, content, competitions and experiences via our bespoke digital fan engagement platform.
In year one we delivered on our promise, launching a 365-day membership which quadrupled active paid memberships to 30,943 in just 12 months, and delivered a 75% retention rate running into year two, all thanks to the high engagement levels.
By the end of year two we’d delivered a 510% increase on paid members since taking over the delivery of the scheme and continued to grow at a considerable rate whilst retaining high retention numbers.

Since the introduction of alloc8 as Tranmere’s ticketing solution provider, there’s been a considerable upturn in matchday revenues, a greater understanding of fan data and behaviours, and a complete eradication of turnstile queues.
Stats & Metrics:
Having the ability to offer subscription payments for season ticket card holders has proved to be a key element in Tranmere’s strategy and marketing, with 40% of season ticket holders now paying by monthly subscription.
alloc8’s powerful controls and insights has had a considerable impact on ticket operations, with an increased average yield of 36% on general admission tickets, and a significant reduction in ticket fraud. A further increase on matchday spend of 18% has been thanks to an increased understanding of fan behaviours.
Tranmere are now able to capture and easily interpret the data of 93% of fans who attend the stadium, which allows for deeper engagement with supporters by enabling personalised and targeted comms to the likes of; family groups, fans who frequent specific areas of the stadium, and those who arrive at certain times before a match.
Case study
In 2021 we embarked on a commemorative product licensing deal with Manchester City and set about creating a series of highly collectable merchandise to celebrate one of their greatest ever players, Sergio Aguero.
Created in conjunction with Aguero himself, the hero product was a high price point career-celebrating display piece, featuring a special-edition hand-signed 2020/21 home shirt from the Argentine striker’s last season at City, a special edition plaque which paid homage to his Golden Boot win, and a beautifully presented set of prints detailing key moments from his time at the Etihad.
Launched in the run-up to the 10-year anniversary of Sergio’s incredible 93:20 Premier League-winning goal, 600 units went on sale through Manchester City’s online store and sold out entirely, leading to City extending the order by a further 1,000 units within just 10 days of the launch.
